Every startup story wants to be a garage story. Two founders, a whiteboard, no adult supervision, then a rocket ship. It makes for a good movie. It is not how AdMagic got built.
We built AdMagic inside Toronto Metropolitan University’s Innovation Incubators, through the Momentum-SDZ program. That is not a footnote we are including for flavor. It is the actual environment that shaped how this product got scoped, tested, and argued over before a single line of the Context Engine got written.
Why the garage myth is the wrong model for this problem
The garage story works fine for a single clever feature. It works much worse for a problem that sits at the intersection of marketing, finance, and neuroscience data, which is exactly where AdMagic lives. Scoring a creative before spend with TRIBE v2, tying every click back to real contribution margin with the Context Engine, and building an AI CFO and CMO layer that proposes but never acts alone: none of that gets built well in isolation. It gets built by people who are forced to defend their assumptions to other operators who do not care about your feelings, on a schedule that does not move for you.
That is what an incubator actually does. Not funding theater, not a plaque for the wall. Structured pressure. Mentors who have seen the same mid-market ad-tech gap we are chasing, a $300B opportunity by 2027 that is still mostly unserved because the tooling either treats ROAS as the finish line or treats profit as someone else’s department. Peers building alongside us who ask the annoying question you were hoping nobody would ask.
Operators first, incubator second
The incubator did not hand us the idea. Our founders brought $4M+ in managed ad spend and $2.1M+ in client revenue generated from years of prior agency work into that room, including the exact problem we lived firsthand with ourpetslife.co.uk: an account that looked great on every ROAS chart and was quietly losing money underneath. TMU’s ecosystem is where that firsthand scar tissue got turned into a system instead of staying a war story we tell at dinner.
That is an important distinction, so we will say it plainly. AdMagic does not have live paying customers today. It is in active MVP development, built by people with real skin in this specific game, refined inside a structured startup ecosystem rather than assembled alone and hoping for the best. We are aiming for our first paying design partners, a target of ten, around January 2027.
If you are a DTC founder checking your own numbers alone at night, or a growth marketer defending a testing budget, or an agency lead trying to prove profit impact to a client who is one bad month from leaving, this is the kind of foundation you actually want under a tool you are going to trust with your ad spend decisions. Not a garage myth. A room full of people whose job was to poke holes in ours until it held.
We are building AdMagic in the open, inside a real ecosystem, toward a real launch. The waitlist is how you get to see it before general availability, and it costs nothing to join.
